Crashes On I-41 Cause Traffic Problems Thursday

Interstate 41 south of Fond du Lac down to the Dodge County line continues to see problems with crashes while construction crews work on resurfacing the highway.

Interstate 41 is reduced to one lane in areas both north and south bound which is causing slow downs and back-ups.

Occasionally drivers that may not be paying attention or speeding end up crashing.

Thursday, September 29, 2022 saw 2 serious crashes on the northbound side. The first crash occured just after 12:30 PM near Lost Arrow.

Callers reported that a semi “hit a car pretty hard and the car was turned around facing the wrong way.”

Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue was called to this crash for a 67-year-old male with a head injury.

While crews were investigating this crash, another crash occurred in the back-up further south down by County Road F.

In this crash, a mini van towing a trailer rear-ended a semi just before 3PM.

This crash caused complete road blockage forcing traffic to slowly inch past the scene on the shoulder.

At one point traffic was backed up all the way to Highway 67 in Dodge County. A Fond du Lac County officer advised dispatch to let Washington County know
it could go as far south as their county but it is unknown if it actually did.

Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue was called to this crash for three people who were injured. None of the injuries appeared to be serious.

Oakfield Fire Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol assisted the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office at the second crash.

Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt reminds drivers to slow down and need to be extra vigilant in construction zones with the possibility of backups, workers and equipment on the roadway.

Traffic on 41 was affected by both crashes for a duration of nearly 3 1/2 hours.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said the construction on 151 will finish sometime in November.
