140 UWO Employees Lose Job For Budget Cuts

The University of Oshkosh announced yesterday that it was laying off 140 employees.

The layoffs affect UWO administrative employees and staff; no faculty members were laid off. The layoffs are part of the schools plan to address an $18 million deficit. In addition to the layoffs, 76 UWO employees consisting of 49 staff members, 21 faculty members and six instructional academic staff, have accepted a voluntary retirement offer bringing the total reduction of staff to 216.

This reduction is said to help with the deficit with a salary savings of 14.7 million dollars.
