21-year-old woman seriously injured in crash by Campbellsport
Fond du Lac County authorities responded to a crash with serious injuries Sunday night, January 11, 2026 in the southeast part of the county.
Prior to the crash, deputies were headed to the area for a report of a reckless driver. A caller advised the communication center that a vehicle, that had previously been at a local bar, had just passed them at a high rate of speed northbound on County Highway W, south of Campbellsport.
At about 9:22, the dispatch center received an automatic crash notification from a phone on W on the far south side of Campbellsport. Around the same time a resident in the area called to report a crash that ended up in their yard.
Deputies, along with Campbellsport Fire Department, Ambulance and First Responders were dispatched to the scene.
Investigation determined that the vehicle was being driven northbound on County Highway W when the driver failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, traveled down an embankment, and struck a tree.
Further investigation showed this was the vehicle deputies were responding to for the reckless driver call.
The driver and sole occupant, a 21-year-old woman from West Bend, sustained serious injuries and was transported from the scene by Flight for Life Medical Helicopter to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.
Authorities say the woman wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor.
County Highway W was closed for a short time while crews worked the scene. Deputies continue investigating the crash.
