$70,000 Seized In Fond du Lac County Traffic Stop/Drug Bust

On Friday, December 9, 2022, at 5:57pm, a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office K9 handler was patrolling Interstate 41 and observed a southbound vehicle quickly exit the interstate at Hickory Street and pull into Kwik Trip in what appeared to be an attempt to avoid being stopped.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop for multiple moving and equipment violations.
Immediately upon making contact with the driver and sole occupant, the deputy could smell the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle and could see raw marijuana in plain view inside the vehicle.
The deputy had the driver exit the vehicle, and upon opening the door the deputy could see a handgun in the driver’s door jamb. The handgun was later found to be loaded and the driver admitted he was not a concealed carry permit holder.
The suspect was detained and a search of the vehicle was conducted.
Inside the vehicle, in addition to the loaded handgun and marijuana, deputies located 29 bags of edible THC infused candy and a backpack containing approximately $70,000 cash.

The suspect, a 23 year old male from Langlade County, was arrested and transported to the Fond du Lac County Jail on multiple drug and firearm related charges.
Additionally, the suspect is currently out on bail for felony attempting to elude an officer in Portage County and thus was arrested for felony bail jumping.
Investigators from the Lake Winnebago Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group drug task force are continuing the investigation.
Evidence exists tying the large amount of cash to drug related activity.
The defendant has not made an initial court appearance, and no further information can be released at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
