9-Year-Old Town of Eden Girl Injured When Hay Bale Lands On Her

A nine-year-old town of Eden girl was rushed to Childrens Hospital Of Wisconsin in Milwaukee Wednesday afternoon after a large hay bale her and two other children were playing near, fell on her.

Just before 3 PM, the Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a 911 call stating the hay bale had fallen on the girl at W3551 Sunny Rd, in the Township of Eden.

Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office along with Campbellsport Ambulance, City of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue, and Eden Fire Department and first responders were dispatched.

ThedaStar medical helicopter was also requested to the scene and flew the girl to the Milwaukee hospital with serious injuries.

An investigation of the incident revealed that three children were chasing after kittens in a barn when two of the children climbed up onto two large hay bales that were stacked on top of one another while the 9-year-old remained on the ground level.

The hay bales tipped over, trapping the 9-year-old under one of the bales.

Two adults on the scene were able to remove her from underneath the hay bale before first responders arrived.

The incident is not considered suspicious and none of the other children were injured.
