Disturbance with over 100 people in Oshkosh injures officer, leads to two arrested for weapons violations
A disturbance in Oshkosh Saturday night, October 11, 2025, has resulted in an officer injured and two people arrested for weapons violation charges.
Shortly after 11 pm, officers were dispatched to the area of Scott Avenue and Cherry Street for a large group of people with multiple reports that several males were brandishing firearms and pointing them at people in the area.
Upon arrival an officer located one of the suspects. When the Officer attempted to make contact with the man, he began resisting and reached for something in the front of his pants. Officers were able to wrestle him to the ground and take him into custody. Once in custody, officers found a loaded handgun tucked in his pants. The 17-year-old Neenah man was arrested and charged with Possession of a Dangerous Weapon by a Person under 18, First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Resisting/Obstructing an Officer and Disorderly Conduct.
While this was occurring, police say a large disturbance took place involving about 100 people. During this disturbance, an officer was knocked to the ground, sustaining a head injury. The officer was transported to a local hospital for the injury.
Also while in the area, a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper saw a suspect involved in a previous battery complaint. When approached, the twenty-year-old Ripon man fled on foot. During a brief foot pursuit, the trooper noticed the man was holding a gun. He was captured shortly after and taken into custody for a Probation Hold. During the foot pursuit, it’s believed he dropped a Black and Gray backpack. Police are asking residents in the 7 and 800 Blocks of Woodland, Scott and Prospect to check their yards for this backpack. If it is located, they should contact the Oshkosh Police Department immediately at 920-236-5700.
