AAA To Offer Free Rides And Tows To Impaired Drivers

The Auto Club Group AAA will be working to keep impaired drivers off the road during the year-end holidays.

The Group is activating its Tow to Go program in Wisconsin and select other states, which provides transportation for impaired drivers and their vehicles.

How it works is, if an impaired driver calls AAA between 6pm Friday, December 23rd – 6am Monday, January 2nd, they will get a free tow and transportation to a safe location within a 10-mile radius.

The service is free for anyone, but AAA asks that it be treated as a last resort.

AAA says appointments cannot be scheduled in advance to use Tow to Go. It is designed as a safety net for those that did not plan ahead and find themselves intoxicated without a designated driver.

To use the service, drivers simply call (855) 2-TOW-2-GO.

Tow to Go may not be available in rural areas or during severe weather conditions.

AAA has offered Tow to Go during major holidays for almost 25 years. During that time, they say they more than 25,000 impaired drivers have utilized the service.
