Area law enforcement investigate serious crashes
Multiple crashes were reported in the area Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
The closest, and one of the more serious happened on Highway 49, just across the Fond du Lac County line into Dodge County.
Just after 4 p.m., Dodge County Deputies responded to the area of State Highway 49 and Panzer Rd, about half way between Waupun and Brownsville, for a report of a two-vehicle crash.
Initial investigation showed a 2020 Subaru Forester, driven by 73-year-old man from Phillips, Wisconsin was westbound on 49, crossed the centerline and was struck by a 2018 Ram 2500 pickup truck that was operated by a 33-year-old man from Menasha. As a result of the crash, both vehicles caught fire.
The 73-year-old man was transported from the scene to Summit Hospital with serious injuries by flight for life medical helicopter. The 33-year-old man was uninjured. He was arrested for operating while revoked and transported to the Dodge County Jail.
Shortly after, another crash was reported in northwest Calumet County. There, a two vehicle crash resulted in one of the vehicles ending up on its side with a person needing to be extricated by fire fighters.
And just minutes later, a multi vehicle crash occurred in Brown County when a driver illegally tried to use a median turnaround to go from northbound to southbound and was struck by other vehicles. It’s unknown if any injuries were reported in that crash.
