BBBS 5K Splash And Dash Coming Up

Grab your friends and plan to get splashed, then dash as part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) BIG Splash & Dash 5K!

Registration is now open!  Set for Saturday, September 10 as part of Fondue Fest, this 5K Fun Run and Fun Walk kicks off at Veterans Park in downtown Fond du Lac.

Race day registration begins at 8:00 a. m. The Fun Run starts at 9:00 a.m. with the Fun Walk immediately following at 9:15 a.m.  Cost to participate is just $20 per person until August 29 when rates go up.   You can also register a family of 4 or more for just $80 or a team of 10 or more for just $100.   In addition, a business can sponsor a team of 20 for just $200.

“All funds raised during this event goes right back into our program,” said Tammy Young, Executive Director for BBBS.  “BBBS is the only one-to-one mentoring program of its kind serving all of Fond du Lac County and the northern portion of Dodge County.  Every walker, runner and sponsor helps make a BIG difference to both the children in our program and the kids on the wait list,” said Young.

Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) assists children with social, emotional and character development through one-to-one mentoring relationships with caring adults.  Children in the program come from a wide variety of backgrounds, many coming from single parent households, living at or below poverty level.  Big Brothers Big Sisters matches children with Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Big Couples or Big Families in a community or school based program.  Children aged 6 through 13 can enroll in the program through a parent or guardian referral.  Volunteers need to be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license for the community based program, 16 years old for the school based program.  For more information about the program or to volunteer, call 920-922-8200 or visit www.bbbsfdl.org.
