Children, Ages 4 And 7, Were In Car As Man Reached Speeds Over 100 MPH In Pursuit

A Racine man is being charged with 13 felonies as a result of a high-speed chase Thursday.
Authorities say the 30-year-old man already had warrants out for his arrest when a Racine police officer stopped him near Martin Luther King Drive and Albert Street around 4:20 p.m. Thursday.
As the officer walked up to the vehicle, the man took off.
The pursuit reached speeds as high as 110 mph and went through stop signs without even slowing down.
The man suddenly pulled over near Lasalle and Hagerer, got out of the car and ran off, jumping fences as a deputy chased after him. Eventually, he was taken into custody in the backyard of a home.
It was after the vehicle was stopped that officers realized there was 2 children in the vehicle, ages 4 and 7, neither in a car seat.
The man made his initial court appearance yesterday and had a $50,000 cash bond set.
