Convicted Fox River Mall Shooter Sentenced To 40 Years

The young man convicted of fatally shooting one person and wounding another at the Fox River Mall last year is sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Eighteen-year-old Dezman Ellis apologized Wednesday, for killing 19-year-old Jovanni Frausto in the mall food court during an argument over a girl.

“He (Frausto) had a whole life ahead of him but I messed that up being dumb and making the wrong choices. I wish I had the chance to apologize to him and let him know I’m sorry for my actions and I just wish the whole situation never happened.”

Tuesday’s sentencing hearing in Outagamie Court was at times chaotic, with officers escorting out people who were arguing and threatening one another. Ellis was found guilty of 2nd Degree Intentional Homicide and 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety.
