Department Of Revenue Scam

An official with the state’s Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection says unfortunately the Milwaukee Office of the state’s Department of Revenue had its phone number spoofed. Frank Frassetto says scammers used that opportunity to call up residents and ask them for personal information. They told those residents there was a problem with their tax return and they needed some information. He says the information the scammers were asking for could all be used to steal from the residents that were being called. He says Department of Revenue Secretary Rick Chandler says his Department uses the mail to contact residents, not phone calls or email.
