Despite heavy snow, travel issues kept to a minimum

Fond du Lac County drivers seems to have done pretty well handling driving in the snow that fell Thursday, December 19, 2024, as no major crashes are known to have occurred here. This wasn’t the case just to our north however.

Around 11:30 Thursday morning a tanker truck carrying gasoline crashed, tipping over on the southbound offramp to Highway 26, spilling an estimated 1400 gallons of 91 octane fuel. The Oshkosh Fire Department and Haz-Mat team responded to this incident along with the Wisconsin DNR.

Not long after, around noon, a semi jackknifed on 41 southbound near Highway 45 blocking two of three lanes there, and in Manitowoc County, near the Calumet County line, A fatal crash occurred near the intersection of Highway K and Oakwood Road. No other details have been released on either of these incidents.
