Dock Spiders Walk-off Chinooks 8-7 In Wild Fashion

FOND DU LAC, WI – With the game knotted at 7-7 in the bottom of the ninth, Lorenzo Rios (Northwestern) stepped up to the plate and delivered the walk-off single which scored Parker Knoll (Lawrence) and gave the Dock Spiders the 8-7 victory over the Chinooks on Friday night. It was the final home game of the season at Herr-Baker Field and the score was deadlocked 0-0 until the top of the fourth inning when the Chinooks put up four runs, capped off by a two run double from Jimmy Juergensen (Concordia-Wisconsin). The Dock Spiders responded in the bottom of the fifth when Lorenzo Rios cracked a sacrifice fly into right field that scored Connor Cooney (Holy Cross). The Dock Spiders struck again in the bottom of the sixth as they notched three more runs, finished off by an RBI single from Connor Cooney. The two teams then traded runs back and forth with each other.
The Chinooks scored two runs in the top of the seventh, but the Dock Spiders rallied again and put up three more runs which made the score 7-6. In the top of the ninth, a lingering thunderstorm made landfall as the dirt swirled and the game was halted for a few minutes. After the abbreviated delay, Will Johannes (Madison College) of the Chinooks launched a game-tying home run to right field, but the Dock Spiders did not quit. Parker Knoll laced a single which put him on base. Lorenzo Rios then peppered the walk-off single which snapped the Dock Spiders eight game losing skid. Dock Spiders reliever Kade Walker (St. Bonaventure) earned the win, his first of the season. Chinooks reliever Tyler Deleskiewicz (Wisconsin-Milwaukee) was tagged with his second loss of the season. The Dock Spiders improved to 29-42 on the season, 16-20 in the second half.
