Dodge County Sheriff’s Deputy crashes responding to pursuit

At about 4:58 pm on Monday, May 20, 2024, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office regarding a vehicle that was reported by a Flock license plate reader camera to have just entered Dodge County. The suspected driver, Harvey Cox, age 58 of Wonewoc, WI had a felony warrant for fleeing from his jury trial in Juneau County.

A patrol sergeant was in the area and initiated a pursuit. The vehicle fled to the City of Waupun where the driver came to a stop on his own and was taken into custody without further incident. Cox was arrested for the warrant, knowingly fleeing an officer, and 2 counts of felony bail jumping. He was booked into jail subsequent to the arrest, but all persons are innocent until proven guilty.

At about 5:03 pm, as a deputy was responding to assist with the pursuit, the deputy lost control of his squad car on the rain-covered roadway at the intersection of State Highway 68 and County A in the City of Fox Lake. The squad left the roadway and struck a house. The deputy suffered minor injuries and no one else was injured in the crash. The crash is being investigated by the Fox Lake Police Department.
