DOT Encouraging Travelers to Plan Ahead and Use Patience on the Roads
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the Wisconsin State Patrol are asking people traveling over the Memorial Day Weekend to plan ahead, buckle up and to expect slower traffic in work zones and along heavily traveled roads. Peak travel times are expected to be between Noon and 8 pm on Friday and Noon until 8 pm on Monday. Construction projects in most highway work zones will stop by Noon on Friday and will resume on Tuesday at 6 am, and while workers will open as many lanes as possible, drivers are asked to be patient, alert and to watch their speed. Drivers are also reminded to buckle up – as law enforcement agencies continue the “Click It or Ticket” enforcement campaign through June 2nd. Travelers are encouraged to visit Wisconsin 511 or download the 511 App for information on work zones and travel times.
