Early Season Ice Shoves Due To Temperature Swings

Ice shoves affected the west shore of Lake Winnebago Wednesday, December 28, 2022 causing some issues to the lake access at Wendts and TJs as well as the Blackwolf boat landing.
The shoves occurred as warmer weather opened some ice on the lake and the wind shifted ice towards the west shore.
Once it hits the shore, the ice’s momentum causes it to pile on top of itself.
Upcoming weather patterns may cause more shoves as temperatures reach above freezing for the next few days, and then stronger winds are forecasted to come from the east on Tuesday and then strengthen as they shift from the south, gusting to around 30 miles per hour.
Anybody planning to be on the ice in the upcoming week should pay close attention to quickly changing ice conditions.
