Ethics Board To Meet Again, Adds New Board Member

The City of Fond du Lac Ethics Board will meet again next week Wednesday to discuss yet another receipt of a verified ethics complaint.

The agenda for the meeting, posted online, does not state who the complaint is against or what the complaint is about, as the Ethics Board is set to meet in closed session.

The most recent complaint was filed against current City councilmember Patrick Mullen and whether or not an ethics code violation was committed when a PAC associated with Mullen paid over $34,000 in his legal fees. Those fees were incurred in the lawsuit filed against the city involving the Lakeside Park project.

Originally, Fond du Lac City Attorney Deborah Hoffmann issued an opinion that an ethics violation had not been committed. FDL County District Attorney Eric Toney also issued his findings, in part saying there would be no charges filed against Mullen, but recommended that Hoffmann review his investigation findings, as a number of key pieces of information were not made available to Hoffmann prior to her giving her opinion.

The Ethics Board is set to meet Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m., and will be the first board meeting for newcomer Frank Endejan who replaced Paul Czisny, who was appointed Circuit Court Judge by Governor Evers back in March.
