Fatal fire reported in Dodge County – 14 fire departments respond

One person was killed and a firefighter was injured in a fire over the weekend in Dodge County.

At about 11:23 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2025, The Knowles Fire Department was called to smoke showing from a second story apartment at w2182 County Highway Y in Knowles.

Upon arrival crews found smoke and fire and upgraded the call to a MABAS call to the second level which brought in multiple departments from surrounding communities.

One patient was transported and was later pronounced deceased, and one firefighter was transported to a hospital with a reported hand injury.

In total 14 fire departments responded including Oakfield, Lamartine and Campbellsport from Fond du Lac County.

Crews are investigating how the fire started.
