FDL Sheriff’s Office Search For Missing Driver After Crash

UPDATE: Mitchell Titel Has been located safe according to FDL Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol Troopers responded to the scene of a one vehicle crash Saturday afternoon September 3, 2022 around 4:36, at the intersection of County Highway Q and Calmar Rd in the Township of Marshfield.
Investigation at the scene showed that the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was traveling westbound on County Highway Q and failed to negotiate a curve at the intersection of Calmar Rd. The vehicle left the roadway and struck several trees.
Evidence at the scene suggests alcohol may have been a factor.
Witnesses saw the driver flee the crash scene on foot. Deputies and a K9 searched, but were not able to locate the driver.
Two hours after the crash the communications center received a call from a friend of the driver. The friend informed dispatchers that they received a call from the driver who said he was walking in the woods not far from where he thought the crash occurred, but he was unsure of his exact whereabouts. The driver also told his friend he was now experiencing shortness of breath, and although he said his phone had a sufficient amount of battery life left, his phone either died or was turned off a short time later.
Several state troopers along with patrol deputies and the sheriff’s office drone team continued an extensive search for the driver. At this time that search remains on-going, and a larger scale search consisting of volunteer fire department and other emergency personnel will commence after daylight if he is not located overnight.
The Fond du Lac Sheriff’s Office asks if you have had contact, or know the whereabouts of the driver, that you contact the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office at (920) 929-3390.
The driver is 36 year old MITCHELL TITEL.
