FDL’s Fruth Field Ribbon Cutting Set
Fond du Lac’s Fruth Field complex is nearing completion and will be ready for Fond du Lac High School’s 2013-14 football season. To officially inaugurate this hub of community activities, a ribbon cutting ceremony is set for Monday, August 12. Board of Education President Elizabeth Hayes will serve as the Board representative in cutting the ribbon. Mrs. Hayes commented, “Fruth has been a source of pride for our entire community and it is with enormous pride that we open this phenomenal facility to the public.”
The complex houses two plazas, two concession stands, a retail area for Fondy Cardinal logowear, and the new restroom facilities. The tiered landscaping and fencing upgrades enhance the overall appearance of this area. Perhaps most importantly, handicapped accessibility has been enhanced significantly to ensure a universally enjoyable experience for all of our fans.
A debt of gratitude goes to the businesses, booster clubs, and organizations throughout our community who financially supported the Fans for Fruth fundraising campaign. Subsequently, it is important to note that additional funds are still needed to ensure full project completion. Naming rights are still available for various sections of the complex. Businesses and organizations interested in exploring this option are encouraged to contact Superintendent Dr. Jim Sebert at 906-6502 to inquire about this opportunity.
Individuals who are interested in becoming part of the Fans for Fruth campaign still have time to become involved as well! Bricks that will line the interior of the structure at the main entrance are still available for purchase. The inscribed nameplate recognizing an individual, families, alumni, or coaches can be purchased as a half brick for $125 or a full brick for $250. More information is available by clicking on the Fans for Fruth icon on our website’s homepage (www.fonddulac.k12.wi.us).
Fruth Field is steeped in rich history; a history that will never be forgotten but rather built upon. We thank everyone for this community-wide support and look forward, with great anticipation, to opening the gates to this impressive complex.
