Fires Reported At Local Scrap Yards

The Fond du Lac Fire Department responded to Sadoff Iron and Metal recycling center early Sunday morning for a reported large scrap pile of cars and other bulk recyclable materials burning next to their large shredding operation.

The departments aerial truck was used to extinguish the fire while a representative from Sadoff’s brought in equipment to break up the scrap pile to better access the fire. No cause of the fire has been released at this time.

No injuries or damage to anything other than the scrap pile was reported.

A much larger fire, also in a scrap metal yard, occurred Saturday afternoon, this one in Manitowoc County.

Just after 1 PM, fire broke out at the B&B Metals Processing facility in Newton.

Due to the size of the fire, departments from Manitowoc, Brown, Sheboygan and Calumet Counties were called to assist the Cleveland Fire Department who was originally called for the fire.

No cause of that fire has been released.
