Fond du Lac County Health Department Pushes To Keep Kids Tobacco Free

The Fond du Lac County Health Department is passing on information geared at keeping tobacco and nicotine out of the hands of kids.
The information comes from the East Central Alliance for Nicotine Prevention which strives to educate retailers, parents, and the community at-large.
The alliance works with tobacco retailers and their employees to ensure they understand state and federal requirements ensuring employees do not sell tobacco to minors.
Through the group, a free online course is available at witobbaccocheck.org to give retailers free training on I.D. verification for tobacco purchases.
Parents, teachers, and the community at-large also need to take an active role in keeping tobacco and nicotine out of the hands of kids.
Being able to recognize the various types of non-traditional tobacco products such as the cheaper tobacco blunts in self-serve displays or E-cigarettes, which unlike conventional tobacco, is not regulated and can be sold on various internet sites.
Parents can find educational information about all these new products at www.tobaccoischanging.org.
