Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department Search For Driver That Eluded Them

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department searched the countryside west of Lamartine for about an hour overnight, for a driver that bailed out of a car that had eluded officers on State Highways 151 and 26.

The chase of the black sedan with Illinois plates started southbound on State Highway 26 after a deputy tried to pull the vehicle over for a speed violation. The driver merged onto 151 south, briefly crossing into Dodge County by Waupun, then crossed the median and headed back north, again crossing the median 2 more times, heading south and then north again on 151 where speeds hit 120 mph.

The driver turned north on to Highway 26 again and then east on County Highway TC where he attempted to avoid a tire deflation device by driving into the ditch, but two tires ended up hitting the spike strip.

With both tires shredding off the rims, the driver stopped the vehicle and bailed from the car north into a cornfield on TC,
east of Dehring Road.

The sheriff’s department briefly deployed a K9 to track, but switched to searching with a drone in the air.

After scanning the area for about an hour, the search was called and perimeter was broken down.

Wisconsin State Patrol and Waupun Police Department assisted the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office in the pursuit that spanned 14.5 miles. There were no injuries or property damaged during the pursuit.

Anyone that may have information on this incident is asked to call the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department at 920-929-3390.
