Fond du Lac Man killed In Montana Motorcycle Crash After Hitting Black Bear

Montana authorities say a Fond du Lac man was involved in a fatal crash Sunday when the motorcycle he was driving struck a black bear in western Montana on Highway 83.
Highway Patrol Trooper Jim Hawkins said the 66-year-old man was driving an early 2000s model Harley Davidson when he struck the bear as it crossed the road around 9:30 in the morning.
“The man was not wearing a helmet and died from his injuries” Hawkins said.
Speed or alcohol are not considered to be factors in the crash.
The 7-year-old female bear, which was said to weigh about 140 pounds, was injured in the crash and wandered off into the woods but was later found.
Hawkins said officers from Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks euthanized the bear as it had a pretty busted up leg.
The name of the man has not been released.
