Free Fishing Weekend Starts Saturday (1/15/22)

This weekend is Free Fishing Weekend across Wisconsin. D N R Fisheries Coordinator Theresa Stabo says they’re expecting good conditions across most of the state, but that no ice is safe ice.

“Use some common sense! If there’s been a lot of freeze, thaw, freeze, thaw that’s going to wind up with a honeycomb effect and weaken the ice. So just be safe out there.”

If you don’t have your own ice fishing equipment, there are a number of lakes across the state where you can borrow out equipment, or work with other anglers out on the ice and make some friends. Find out more online at D N R dot W I dot Gov.
