Grill Damaged In City Of Fond du Lac Fire

The City Of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue Department responded to a report of an explosion and fire at 116 Chestnut Street Sunday, November 13, 2022.
At about 11:30 AM the home owner called the Fond du Lac County Communications Center after hearing an explosion sound come from outside the residence.
Fire crews arrived on scene to find a propane tank hooked to a grill had exploded and a subsequent fire was extinguished by the home owner.
Fire crews further cooled the combustibles and overhauled the scene.
Damage was limited to the grill, propane cylinders, and one soffit section on the exterior of the house.
No one was injured in the incident and the cause of the explosion is being investigated.
City Fire and Rescue reminds everyone to ensure that all cylinders are in the off position when not being used, fires are completely extinguished, and all open flame devices are at least ten feet away from any flammable structures or surfaces.
