Heavy Rainfall Forecast For Area

The National Weather Service says parts of Wisconsin could be in for a lot of rain this weekend.

The Weather Prediction Center’s Excessive Rain Forecast paints an area from just south of Green Bay south to the state line and west to around the Wisconsin Dells in a risk of heavy rain amounts starting this afternoon and going through Monday.

The National Weather Service says this will be a long, drawn out event so flash flooding shouldn’t be a concern but ponding in low lying areas such as ditches and underpasses as well as river flooding could be possible.

Forecast models show as much as 5 inches of rain could fall in areas that see the more persistent rainfall.

Stay tuned to KFIZ.com for updates on flooding if any watches, warnings or advisories are issued.
