Buechel Supports Merger
Fond du Lac County Executive Al Buechel was one of those interviewed by a consulting firm that recommended the merger of the Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation and the Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce. The effort to merge them into one organization with one CEO will take months to complete. Buechel can’t talk about what the McCarthy/Blansett Group asked him, but says he supports whatever the Association and FCEDC come up with. He says it was clear in the community that business leaders and community leaders felt one organization would be more effective.
FDL County Homes Sales Up
Sales of existing homes increased by nearly 42 percent in Fond du Lac County in November compared to the same month last year. According to the Wisconsin Realtors Association the median price of those homes last month also increased by nearly 7.5 percent. Year to date home sales in the County are up 8.5 percent compared to last year and the median price of those homes have also increased by 6.2 percent.
Black Creek Man Pleads To Burglarizing Mayville Church
The 19-year-old Black Creek man who broke into a Mayville church in November of 2015 will be sentenced next April. Tristan Vandeneng recently pled guilty to a burglary charge in Dodge County Court. Theft and criminal damage to property charges were read into the record and dismissed. According to the criminal complaint he used a pipe wrench to break into Christian Life Fellowship Church. Cash and electronics were taken. He will be sentenced on April 10th.
Marian Tuition Reduction
Tuition will be cheaper for Marian University students in the 2017-18 academic year. The school’s Board of Trustees recently approved a $910 reduction in the annual tuition rate for full-time undergraduate students. The tuition rate for full-time students will be $13,475 per semester.
Leroy Meats Expanding To Fox Lake
Leroy Meats will be expanding to the City of Fox Lake. Fox Lake Mayor Tom Bednarek recently announced the longtime Dodge County meat processor plans to build a production and retail facility. Leroy Meats owner Scott Hurst says it will be an 11,000 square foot facility. Plans are to employ at least 15 full-time workers at the facility.
Lining Up Performers For EAA
Some of the world’s top air show performers have made their commitments to fly at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2017 – The World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration – as part of the afternoon and night air show lineups. Those performers include aerobatic champions and longtime Oshkosh favorites. In addition, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels have reconfirmed that Oshkosh is on their 2017 schedule, with work continuing to bring their full performance to AirVenture for the first time. EAA AirVenture 2017 is the 65th annual Experimental Aircraft Association fly-in convention, scheduled for July 24-30 at Wittman Regional Airport.
