The Bucks are in Dallas tonight to take on the Mavericks. Milwaukee is looking to extend a five-game winning streak. The Bucks have won 11 of their last 12 games overall and sit atop the NBA standings at 40-and-13. Dallas enters at 25-and-28 on the season.
The Bucks made a move before the league’s trade deadline Thursday. The team announced it has acquired forward Nikola Mirotic as part of a three-team deal. In exchange, the Bucks send former first-round pick Thon Maker to Detroit and center Jason Smith along with four future second round draft picks to New Orleans. Detroit will send forward Stanley Johnson to the Pelicans to complete the deal.
This season, Mirotic has played in just 32 of New Orleans’ 55 games because of injuries, but has averaged 16.7 points and 8.3 rebounds – both are career highs. He’s shooting 44 percent from the field and 36 percent from three-point range this season – with 10 games with at least 20 points and five games where he scored 30 points or more. .
Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo took the Warriors’ Steph Curry with the second pick in the NBA All-Star captains draft Thursday night. Kevin Durant went first to Team LeBron. The “Greek Freak” also selected Bucks teammate Khris Middleton with the first pick of the second round.
