Man gets life in prison for Fond du Lac homicide

Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney announced that Gary Davis was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of release on a charges of First Degree Intentional Homicide, Mayhem and Hiding a Corpse.

The charges stem from the brutal slaying of Jacquelyn Rooney on November 9, 2022 in the City of Fond du Lac, where Rooney’s body was found deceased, covered in her locked apartment at 70 east Merrill Avenue with 14 stab wounds and multiple blunt force injuries to her head.

Investigation showed that Rooney and Davis had been in a relationship and upon interviewing other people in the apartment building, found they had been fighting and were breaking up.

The jury listened to five days of testimony in February of this year, and took approximately 40 minutes to reach their verdicts.

Davis maintains his innocence, saying the real killer is still out there.
