Man in custody following trail of crimes and vehicle crash
Law enforcement in Outagamie and Brown County are piecing together a short trail of crime committed by a person last night.
Just before 1 AM, A vehicle was stolen from the Kwik Trip gas station at 1300 north Westhill Blvd in Appleton. A short time later a State Patrol Trooper attempted to pull the vehicle over for an unrelated traffic infraction, not knowing the vehicle was stolen. The driver accelerated in an attempt to elude the trooper northbound on 41 near County Highway S, south of De Pere.
After getting up to speeds of 119 mph, the trooper terminated the pursuit for safety reasons.
Moments later, Ashwaubenon Police were in pursuit of the vehicle in their city. While chasing the vehicle, it crashed at the intersection of Hansen and Broadway and the male driver ran from the scene. He was captured minutes later in a nearby residential area and taken into custody.
