Alice Aalsma

Alice
Aalsma, 85, of Waupun, died Sunday, December 13, 2015 at The Christian Home
& Rehabilitation Center in Waupun.

 

Alice
was born May 21, 1930 in Vesper, WI the daughter of John and Lucy Van Stedum
Tjepkema.  On October 22, 1946 she
married Herman Aalsma in Waupun. 
Following their marriage they farmed together for 45 years in the town
of Trenton where they resided all their married lives.  Alice was a member of Bethel Christian
Reformed Church in Waupun.  She
volunteered her time at the church, Christian grade school, and Christian high
school.  Alice was a very generous person
in many ways, and was especially known for her baking.

 

Alice
is survived by her husband of 67 years, Herman Aalsma of rural Waupun; two
daughters: Linda Aalsma of Waupun, and Karen (Al) Van Herwaarden of rural Fox
Lake; four grandchildren, Brian (Jessica) Van Herwaarden, Sara (David)
Wobschall, Kari (Joseph) Westover, and Todd Van Herwaarden; eight
great-grandchildren: Cody and Jacob Van Herwaarden, Logan, Lily, and Ellie
Wobschall, and Emma, Elijah, and Mason Westover; a sister, Carol De Groot of
Rosendale; a brother-in-law, Lester Van Buren of Waupun; a sister-in-law,
Jeanette Tjepkema; a special niece and her husband, Arlene and Morry DeVries;
and nieces and nephews.

 

Alice
was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Tjepkema; a sister, Jeanette Van
Buren; a brother, Bylass Tjepkema; and a brother-in-law, Maurice De Groot.

 

Funeral
services for Alice Aalsma will be held Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 11:30
a.m. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Waupun with Rev. Jeff Brower
officiating. Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery. Friends and relatives may
call on the family on Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of
worship.
