Barbara Lathrop

Barbara Lathrop, age 84, of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026.

Born in Chicago’s southside to the late Joseph and Helen Brzek, Barb – also known as Bobbie or Barbie – could best be described as feisty, irreverent, family-oriented, and fun-loving. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, visiting with neighbors, country driving and motorcycling with her husband, creating seasonal flower displays, and birdwatching at Lakeside Park. She cooked an unrivaled spaghetti and meatballs, kielbasa and sauerkraut, and strawberry cheesecake. Barb is now reunited with her beloved husband, Dennis Lathrop, and her cherished son, Russell Lathrop.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Lathrop and his wife Sharilyn; also by her daughter-in-law Kristine Lathrop, wife of her late son Russell, her grandson Sebastian Doern and his partner Marissa, and her two sweet great-grandsons, Clayton and Camden. Together, her family will forever carry the memory of her love, her laugh, and the legacy of the life she built.

Barb’s family wish to recognize how extremely grateful they are for the excellent and compassionate care Barb received during her last two years from Visiting Angels, Edenbrook Rehabilitation, Lincoln House, Liberty House, and SSM Hospice. At Barbara’s request, no formal funeral services will be held. She will be laid to rest at Ledgeview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers or gifts, those wishing to honor Barb’s memory are encouraged to make a donation to the Fond du Lac Humane Society.
