Bernardine Schingen
Bernardine “Bernie” Julie Ann Schingen, 79, passed away unexpectedly on December 17, 2020. She was born on October 15, 1941 to Bernard and Mildred (Hajduk) Clark. She graduated from St. Mary’s Springs High School in 1960. She was married to Jerome Schingen on June 10, 1961 at St. Joseph’s Church in Fond du Lac. Jerome preceded her in death in March of 2016.
Bernardine enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She was active in boys’ youth baseball with her husband and sons, and served as a den mother in Cub Scouts. She worked in the transportation industry for over twenty years and enjoyed meeting and making friends from all over. She enjoyed going “all out” to celebrate the holidays with family and friends. Bernardine always had an open door to her home and welcoming heart. She enjoyed country music and dancing. In her later years she enjoyed social activities with new friends she had made and bingo. She grew deeply fond of many of her caretakers, and always loved when she would have visitors. Bernardine was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Bernardine is survived by her loving and devoted children, Jim (Barb) Schingen, Jeff (Diane Gordon) Schingen and Judy (Brian Remmel) Schingen, two grandsons, Justin Schingen, and Jeremy (Katie) Schingen, one great grandson Gavin Schingen, one great grandaughter Alexa Schingen. She is further survived by her sisters Mary Sherksnis, and Carolyn (Joe) Schwartz, brother Gene (Michelle) Clark, sister-in-law Marlene Clark and many other relatives and friends.
Bernardine was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Mildred, her husband Jerome, sister Katherine and brother-in-law Donald Powers, brother David Clark, brother-in-law Paul Sherksnis and her nephew Christopher Clark
SERVICES: Bernardine’s family invites relatives and friends for a time of visitation on Tuesday December 29, 2020 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon, following visitation. The Mass will be livestreamed on Holy Family Community’s Facebook page for those hesitant to attend in person. Entombment will follow in Ledgeview Mausoleum.
