Darwin “Stretch” G. Mildebrandt
Darwin “Stretch” G. Mildebrandt, 82, was called to his heavenly home to be with his Savior on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, after a short battle with a brain tumor.
He was born on April 26, 1940, the son of Lynn and Frieda (Schwandt) Mildebrandt. He was a graduate of Markesan High School, Class of 1958. He was employed at Ace Hardware, Robin’s Manufacturing, and retired from Alliant Energy as a Line Clearance Technician after 39 years.
He was married to Rose Reszka on October 28, 1967. They have been members at Redeemer Lutheran Church for 53 years. Here Darwin faithfully served his Savior on numerous boards as his faith was a priority in his life. He was proud that he ushered from confirmation to the age of 76. Darwin enjoyed cutting down trees and splitting wood, loved to travel, and attending his children and grandchildren’s activities. He loved his family and friends and was always willing to lend a hand to whoever needed it.
He is survived by his wife Rose of 55 years; sons: Pat (Jennie) Mildebrandt, Andrew (Cindy) Mildebrandt, and daughter Carrie (Dean) Spranger. He was proud grandpa to grandchildren: Garrett (Liz) Mildebrandt, Makiya Mildebrandt, Kaylie Wodack, Sam, Abby and Caleb Mildebrandt, Colton and Landon Spranger. He is further survived by brothers: Donald (Gloria) Mildebrandt of Markesan, Marcel (Marian) Mildebrandt of Green Lake, several nephews and nieces, and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Marlene Kamps.
VISITATION: The family will greet friends from 9:30 – 11:00 AM, on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 606 Forest Avenue, Fond du Lac.
SERVICE: Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Rev. Christopher Rathje officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Comfort Keepers, SSM Hospital Staff, Crossroads Care Center, Hospice Staff, Pastor Borgwardt and Pastor Rathje at Redeemer and the staff at Kurki Funeral Chapel for all the care, services and support.
