Delphia Salzman

Delphia Salzman passed away at the age of 93 on November 5, 2014 at the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center where she had been a resident since August.



She was born January 23, 1921 in New Holstein the daughter of the late Herman & Helen (Jochimsen) Libke. Delphia attended the New Holstein schools. She married Gordon Salzman on December 19, 1941 and they resided in Louis Corners until his time of death in 1986. Delphia then resided at the Countryside Condos for 24 years and then at Field of Dreams Assisted Living for 1 year. She was a former member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Louis Corners and a member of the Ladies Aid Society. Delphia was the last surviving member of the Louis Corners Happy Homemakers Club. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, baking, playing Sheepshead and following the Green Bay Packers. She always took great pleasure in helping raise her grandchildren and visiting with her great grandchildren.



Survivors include her children: Dennis (Rochelle) Salzman, Barbara (James) Lax both of Kiel, Terry Salzman of Oostburg and a son-in-law: Frank Lax of Kiel. Five grandchildren: Robert Salzman and special friend Kim Schneider of Valders, Stephen (Amanda) Salzman of North Carolina, Dean (Wendy) Lax of Brownsville, Greg Lax of New Holstein and Jason (Kayla) Lax of Plymouth. Six great grandchildren: Ainsley, Sidney, Preston, and Pierce Salzman and Jacob and Lucas Lax. One sister Florence Bruckner of Chilton and one sister-in-law Bette Belle Libke of Virginia. Delphia is also survived by special friends Ruth Duffrin and Delphine Schmitz; also many nieces, and nephews in the surrounding areas and Canada.



Preceding her in death in addition to her husband and her parents are her in-laws Alvin & Hattie Salzman and a daughter Dianne Lax. Her brothers and their spouses, Erwin (Norma), Glendon (Dixie), Roland (LaVerne), Orville (Dorothy), and Kenneth Libke. Her sisters and their spouses Gene (Philip) Conrad, Viola Libke, Shirley Libke and brother-in-law Fritz Bruckner.



Delphia’s family extends a warm invitation to everyone to join them for lunch and a celebration of her life at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 16th at the Schleswig Town Hall located at 21935 Rockville Road in Rockville.
