Diane Ely
On January 20, 2021, the Lord called Diane Ely home after a long battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). She was 72, born May 16, 1948, daughter of the late Howard and Lula Schoen. On November 12, 1966, she married David Ely at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge, and together they had three daughters.
Diane was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge, and her faith ran deep, which extended to her children. She was a strong woman and a hard worker, raising her family and working at Thiel’s Cheese for over 30 years. She was upbeat and always positive, never complaining. She liked to travel and fish, enjoyed sturgeon spearing, and would even help David track a deer during hunting season. Above all else, Diane loved her family deeply.
Diane is survived by her children: Kim (Bob) Longland, Joelle Ellis, and Shannon Ely; grandchildren: Joshua and Jenna Ellis, and Quintin Longland; a very special friend: Harvey Schaefer; siblings: Carol (Erv) Selk and Denis (Susie) Schoen; a sister-in-law: Mary Hauser; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Diane was preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents: Howard and Lula; David’s parents: Elmer and Rita Ely; and a brother: Bruce Schoen.
Private services have been planned. Cards and memorials can be sent to the Wieting Family Funeral Home ℅ Diane Ely, 411 W. Main St. Chilton, WI 53014.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice, Stay at HomeCare, Home Helpers, Synergy HomeCare, and a very special caretaker, Margie, for their excellent care and superior service.
Those who wish may watch a live stream of the service on Monday at 11:00am, or view flowers given by clicking HERE. There will also be an archived video to be watched in the future.
