DONALD “DONNIE” J. RESOP

September 18, 1947 – September 6, 2013

Donald “Donnie” J. Resop, 65, of Fond du Lac, died Friday, September 6 at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac with his wife, Terri and daughter Mary at his side. Donnie was born September 18, 1947 in Fond du Lac, the son of Donald J. and Edna (Miller) Resop, Sr. He was a 1966 graduate of Goodrich High School. On June 24, 1967, he married Terri Ritter at St. Louis Church in Fond du Lac. After graduating from High School, Donnie went to work for Mercury Marine where he worked for 30 years as a Supervisor before retiring in 1996.

A cancer survivor for 21 years, he lived each day of his life to the fullest. He excelled at bowling and golf; as recently as three weeks ago he was still golfing. He was a kind, gentle and loving man who cherished his grandchildren, Adam and Amber. His other two loves were Rudy and Abby. Donnie was a passionate member of the Fondy Vintage Auto Club (FVAC) which was  his second family. In addition, he was a member of Elks Lodge #57, was a member of both the Senior Center and its pool league with his father-in-law, Bill Ritter. Donnie was involved in many golf and bowling leagues in the area and volunteered his time at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.

Donnie is survived by his wife, Terri; his daughter, Mary (Dave) Sparby of Mosinee, WI; one grandson, Adam (special friend Crystal) Resop of Schofield, WI; and one granddaughter, Amber Sparby also of Mosinee, WI; a brother, Tom (Dianne) Miller of Fond du Lac, a sister Margaret (Chuck) Vores of Indian Rocks, FL and a sister-in-law, Cathy Ritter and her husband, Bob Zoelle of Fond du Lac. Also surviving is his father-in-law, Bill Ritter of Fond du Lac, two aunts, one uncle, several nephews and one niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother David, his sister-in-law Pat Resop and his mother-in-law, Mary Lou Ritter.

     

FUNERAL INFORMATION

Visitation will be held September 14, 2013 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home from 930-1230 PM. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held immediately following the visitation. Cremation has taken place with inurnment to follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hospice Home of Hope in Donnie’s name.
