Donald Rabbitt
Husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Donald Rabbitt was called to heaven on Sunday, November 6th 2022. Donald passed away encompassed by love from his family members that were both by his side or miles apart. The love that his family members have for him is a reflection of what he lived by – family. His passion, respect, and dedication for his family has and will carry on for generations to come.
Donald Rabbitt was born on April 11th, 1939 in Ft Dodge, Iowa of the late Elna Mae and William Rabbitt. He grew up working hard for what he had, and instilled that work ethic in his children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved brothers, Dale (Janice) and Dean.
Don was a broadcaster and owned many different radio stations over his lifetime, the most recent being Radio Dubuque. WFON was his local success. Don loved attending the National Association of Broadcasters every year. He was a passionate patriot, an enthusiastic sports fan of the Green Bay Packers, a fisherman, an avid golfer, lover of the outdoors, and a military veteran. Don had a profound love for God and his country, and served from 1961-1963. While in Fond du Lac, he served in various organizations which include: Noon Rotary, Kiwanis and Ducks Unlimited. He was also a member of the American Legion and the key person who founded the Walleye Weekend Junior Fishing Tournament.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Rabbitt of 58 years, their three children, ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild on the way. He spent most of his days spending time with his wife, Jan; his daughter, Lynne Schibbelhut, her husband, Marty, and their children Sydney Schlagenhaft (Brian), Shania, and Shandra; His second daughter, Ann Woods and her husband, Joe, and their four children Jordan (Morgan), Joshua, Jena, and Jianna; And his son, Brian and his wife, Angie, and their three children Caleb, Jacob, and Adam. The fondest memories include vacationing in northern Wisconsin and to Disney, celebrating achievements and milestones, or simply being together and reminiscing. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Visitation: Don’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E Division Street in Fond du Lac. Visitation will also be on Friday, November 11, 2022 at Church of Our Saviour, 363 S. Main Street, Fond du Lac from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
Service: Don’s funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday at Church of Our Saviour, 363 S. Main Street, Fond du Lac. Entombment will be in Rienzi Cemetery with military honors.
