Edward “Eddie” M. Ross
In loving tribute and remembrance to a wonderful and faithful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and grandfather. Edward “Eddie” M. Ross was born into eternal life with Jesus on October 21, 2013 unexpectedly at his home.
Eddie was born on June 9, 1955, in Wausau, WI, the son of Edmund and Joyce (Callahan) Ross. Eddie married his beloved wife and best friend, Cheryl (Shipley) Ross on January 17, 1994. Eddie was a graduate of Stoughton High School and Madison Area Technical College with degrees in Police Science and Automotive Technology. Eddie was employed for a short time as a police officer with the Capitol Police in Madison, WI and McFarland Police Department. But he was a mechanic at heart. He continued his love for mechanics, working for the Department of Corrections Waupun State Garage for over 33 years as an Automotive Equipment Technician-Master, retiring on June 30, 2011. Behind his quiet exterior, Eddie was a multi-talented, creative individual. He was great with his hands, detail oriented, and of course, mechanically and electrically inclined. His mother would always say, “If Eddie couldn’t fix it, throw it away”. His laugh was infectious and sense of humor made everyone smile. Eddie enjoyed spending his time working on cars, buses and any motorized equipment. He loved fishing, hunting, dancing, and playing cards with family and friends. He also treasured attending his son’s basketball games which brought him great pride and joy. Eddie attended First Reformed Church in Waupun, WI. He volunteered his time doing acts of kindness in the church and community. Bible studies gave him peace and hope. His love for the Lord and his great faith shone through in his kind, gentle, loving spirit. He was an honest, caring man always putting other people’s needs first. He had the patience of a saint. He will surely be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Edward is survived by his parents, Edward and Joyce (Callahan) Ross of Stoughton, WI; his beloved wife and best friend, Cheryl; his son, Edward Ross Jr. of Ann Arbor, MI; two daughters, Rozalin Ross of Fond du Lac and Elizabeth Ross of St. Petersburg, FL; two grandchildren, Gabrielle and Katelin Berger of Fond du Lac; two brothers, Mark Ross of Arbor Vitae, WI and Terence (Karen) Ross of New Hill, NC; four sisters, Lynnette Wolfe of Madison, Kathleen Ross of Bethany, CT, Patty (Robert) Muller of Fitchburg, WI, and Laurie Ross of Madison, WI; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
