Edwin T Miller
It is with great sadness that the family of Edwin T Miller, 78, of Fond du Lac, WI announces his peaceful passing on May 16, 2024 at SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital – Fond du Lac with his family at his side.
Edwin was born March 25, 1946 in Fond du Lac, WI the son of the late Edwin F. and Marion I. (Potter) Miller. On July 10, 1982 he married Lynn M Putz in Fond du Lac, WI.
Ed was a loving husband, Dad and Papa. He was a proud member of the Brothertown Indian Nation. He also belonged to the Eagles Club Aires 270, in Fond du Lac, WI.
When Ed was 17 he was hit by a car after pushing his friend out of the way. He lost one of his legs and that never once limited his ability to do anything. Ed lived as though he had two legs and nothing stopped him.
Ed dedicated 52 years of service to Mid-States Aluminum from April 12, 1966 to January 2, 2019. It was the only business that gave him a chance to work. Over the years Ed made many friends and worked in various positions in the Extrusion and Fabrication Departments.
For many years Ed was very involved in supporting Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Fond du Lac, something he was very passionate about. He liked to participate in the “Bowl for Kids Sake”, the largest annual fundraising event of the year. Ed made it his goal to raise the most donations. Ed came in first place many years and was lucky if his bowling score was 100.
Ed enjoyed shooting pool, playing cribbage, poker, sheaphead and going to Bingo and then to gamble with family and friends.
He also enjoyed watching and going to Packer games, watching old movies and TV shows. He would also listen to oldies on TV, You Tube and in the car. When the song “Mony Mony” played he would blast the volume no matter where he was.
Ed loved fishing with family and friends and especially with his grandsons Tayton and Ryker. There were not many fish caught but many memories.
He was also a social butterfly for sure. All throughout the years he loved hanging out and joking with the neighbors old and new. When he would sit on the porch these later years adults and kids would stop and talk to him. Our neighborhood had Ed instead of a Neighborhood Watch. No one caused problems on our block.
The last year and a half Ed (Papa) created many sweet memories with his granddaughter Autumn who was the joy of his life. She kept papa moving, laughing and worn him out. He loved every minute he spent with her. Autumn loved the rides with papa in his wheelchair speeding around the house and outside. She loved waking him up from his naps. She couldn’t understand why papa wouldn’t wake up this last one time.
Lastly Ed was one of a kind, loved by many and will be dearly missed but forever in our hearts.
Edwin is survived by his wife Lynn M (Putz) Miller, his children:
