Gary Greenfield
Gary Greenfield, 85, of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 16, 1940, in Willmar, Minnesota, Gary was a devoted and faithful husband, father, and grandfather, known for his integrity, kindness, and good nature.
Gary attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, on an athletic scholarship before transferring to North Dakota State University to pursue a degree in pharmacy. While at NDSU, he was an active member of the Kappa Psi fraternity and met the love of his life, Joan Green. They were married on August 31, 1965, in Fargo, North Dakota.
After a brief time living and working in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Gary and Joni moved to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, on July 4, 1967, where Gary began a 34-year career as a pharmacist with Osco Drug. During these years, they raised two wonderful children, Grant and Kirsten, and Gary took great joy in spending time with his granddaughter, Korina. He was also an active member of Ducks Unlimited and enjoyed wood carving, as well as fishing and hunting with friends.
Following his retirement from Osco in 2001, Gary and Joni fulfilled a lifelong dream by building a log cabin in Montana, nestled seven miles into the mountains on the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains. They spent ten unforgettable summers there, boating, fishing, hunting, and horseback riding. Their most cherished memories of Montana were created during visits from family and friends.
After selling the cabin in 2012, their family continued to grow with the blessing of granddaughters Nora and Colleen, and great-granddaughter Kennedi. Over the years, Gary and Joni enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States and Canada, as well as taking many memorable trips to Europe.
Gary is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joni; son Grant (Wanda); daughter Kirsten Clancy (Dan); granddaughters Korina Leon (Austin), Nora Clancy, and Colleen Clancy; great-granddaughter Kennedi Westphal as well as sister Marie Halderson (Ron).
Services for Gary will be held on January 10, 2026 at Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 535 Stow St., Fond du Lac, with visitation from 10:00 to 11:15 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice.
