George W. Arthurs
George W. Arthurs, 92, of Oakfield, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Hospice Home of Hope surrounded by family and his “honey bunch”, Jean Frost. He was born December 11, 1919 in Glen Rock, Wisconsin, the son of Peter Silas and Maude Francis Newman Arthurs. George was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1940 – 1943 during WWII and was a member of Red Arrow 32nd Infantry Division. On February 22, 1947 he married Erna M. Stoy at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac and she preceded him in death on January 5, 1997. George worked for Mercury Marine for 34 years retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Luke’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Oakfield and Oakfield VFW Post 8092. George enjoyed trout fishing, hunting, camping and bowling.
SURVIVORS: his special friend, Jean Frost, Lamartine; three daughters, Dianne Hupf, Beaver Dam, Judy (Gary) Osgood, Oakfield, Carol Walk, St. Petersburg, FL; three sons, Ken Arthurs, Fond du Lac, Robert Arthurs, Columbus, GA, Dan (Kim) Arthurs, Fond du Lac; eleven grandchildren, Corey (Jenny) Arthurs, Brian (Stephanie) Arthurs, Carla (Dan) Roeder, Richard (Tammy) Shady, Lee Landaal, Chris Osgood, Stephanie (Dan) Bender, Kyle Arthurs, Joshua (Apryl) Arthurs, Megan (Sasan) Mokhtari, Amanda Walk; sixteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Jean Arthurs, Fond du Lac; one brother-in-law, Don (Barb) Stoy, Van Dyne. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son-in-law, Dale Hupf; seven sisters; four brothers.
The visitation will take place from 9 – 11 AM on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The memorial service will take place at 11 AM on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with Rev. Christopher Goelzer officiating. Inurnment will take place in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Oakfield VFW Post 8092.
