Gwenneth Elizabeth “Gwen” Hinz

Gwenneth Elizabeth “Gwen” Hinz, formerly of Lomira, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at age 98 on Saturday, October 11th, 2025 in Parker, Colorado. Gwen was born on January 7th, 1927, in Osaka, Japan to Harvey and Viola Thede. Gwen was raised in Japan until age 14, where her parents served as missionaries until returning to the United States in 1941. Gwen attended nursing school at Northwestern College, now North Central, in Naperville, IL, where she met her husband Lawrence “Larry” Hinz. Gwen and Larry settled in Wisconsin where they raised four sons and a daughter. Gwen and her family cherished their years living on-site as the directors for Camp Lucerne in Wautoma, WI. As an empty nester, Gwen found joy and purpose in her writing, her faith, and in serving as the choir director at the Lomira United Methodist Church. Gwen “retired” from this position at age 88, moving to Colorado where she resided for the remainder of her life. Gwen is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Viola, brothers Gaius and Paul, beloved husband, Larry, eldest son, John, and her daughter, Amy. Gwen is survived by her sons Ward (Jeanne), Paul, and Dave (Suzanne), grandchildren, Ben, Ryan, Mitchell, Bailey, Jacqueline, and Rick, and ten great-grandchildren. Gwen was led by her faith and her love, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. A memorial service will be held at 11:00, November 6th at Trinity Methodist Church in Lomira.
