Herbert Kurt Mueller
Herbert Kurt Mueller, age 79, a resident of Fenton, Michigan, passed away peacefully at the Woodlands Senior Park in Fond du Lac, WI on December 27, 2022, after a battle with cancer.
Herb was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 20, 1943. He graduated from Rufus King High School in 1962. While in high school, he met Joanne Lambert. Herb and Joanne were married in 1964 and would spend 50 wonderful years together. After high school, Herb attended General Motors Institute in Flint, MI and embarked on an engineering career at GM that would span a remarkable 46 years. In 1973 the family moved from Milwaukee to Michigan, where he spent the rest of his professional career working as an engineer in various roles at the GM Proving Grounds in Milford, MI. He spent 49 years in his beautiful home in Fenton, which he enjoyed sharing with family and friends.
Herb was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and he was a special part of all their lives. His life always revolved around his family, and it defined who he was.
Herb had a passion for sports. Weekends in the fall were a special time for him when he loved following football. Whether it be a Friday night watching his son or grandson’s high school games, a Saturday cheering for the Wolverines or Badgers, or a Sunday rooting for his beloved Green Bay Packers.
Herb had a special spot in his heart for the Great Lakes and anything nautical. He spent countless hours on and around the water with his family and friends forming memories that lasted a lifetime.
Herb is survived by his son Eric (Kelly) Mueller of Fond du Lac, WI and daughter Heidi (Dan) Chappell of Fenton, MI; grandchildren Nicholas (Emily) Chappell, Eleanore (Andrew) Wood, Kurt Mueller, Hunter Chappell and Emily Mueller; special friend Kathy Lanterman of St. Johns, MI and many friends and relatives.
He is preceded in death by his wife Joanne; mother Charlotte; father Kurt; stepmother Margaret; mother-in-law Dorothy and father-in-law Albert.
The family would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to the staffs of the Fond du lac Cancer Center and the Woodlands Senior Park for the level of compassion and care they offered Herb and our family during this challenging period.
A memorial service will be scheduled at the Lake Fenton United Methodist Church in Fenton, Michigan at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the American Cancer Society (link) or a cancer center of your choice.
