James D. Moore
James D. Moore, 82, of North Fond du Lac, died on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at his residence.
He was born on December 16, 1939, in Portage, Wisconsin, the son of Thomas J. and Dorothy E. Saltzwadel Moore. He served in the United States Army. On September 24, 1960, he married Nancy J. White in Fond du Lac.
James worked as a chief clerk and then yard master for Soo Line and Wisconsin Central Railroad for 40 years. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church in North Fond du Lac. James was servant minded and was involved in many organizations and volunteered in many areas of his community including: North Fond du Lac Optimist Charter Member, WIAA Sports official for 30 years, 20 years volunteer reader with first graders at Friendship Learning Center in North Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac Softball Association Hall of Fame (2010) Umpiring, and Village Trustee and President for 12 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Nancy Moore of North Fond du Lac, his children: Susan (Mark) Lemke of Milwaukee, WI, Jeffrey (Mary) Moore of Rapid River, MI, and Kristine (Christopher) Smoody of North Fond du Lac; his grandchildren: James and Nathan Moore and Jordan, Kylee and Robert Wood; his siblings: Michael (Susan) Moore of Rosendale, Cathy (Glenn) Gogin of Fond du Lac, Mary (Joe) Moore of Hartford, WI, and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter Emily Moore and his brother Thomas Moore.
VISITATION: The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 3:00 PM, on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Community United Methodist Church, 701 Minnesota Avenue, North Fond du Lac.
SERVICE: Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Community United Methodist Church, with Rev. Janet Martinez officiating. Cremation has taken place.
