Joyce A. Babler

Joyce A. Babler was born on November 8, 1931 in the Town of Friendship, and was the only child of August and Holdina (Beduhn) Knack. She became a child of God through Baptism on November 29, 1931. Joyce made public declaration of her faith at her confirmation on July 1, 1945. On July 8, 1952, she married Lyle Babler at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Van Dyne. She was a member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in North Fond du Lac and a former member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Van Dyne, where she served in the Ladies Aid and sang with the church choir. The Lord in his wisdom, saw fit to call Joyce home to heaven to be with Lyle on Friday, May 13, 2022 at the age of 90 years, 6 months, and 5 days.
Joyce was a 1949 graduate of Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Fond du Lac. She worked as a lab technician at The Wiley Smith Clinic in Fond du Lac. She then became a Homemaker/Mother and later, worked part-time for Tupperware in the packaging warehouse. She was a charter member of the Van Dyne Lioness Club and dedicated her talents to many of the activities both in the local club and at the district level. She was especially proud of being awarded both the Birch-Sturm Fellowship as well as the Melvin Jones Fellowship, in recognition of her devotion to the Lion’s organization and their mission. She and Lyle both enjoyed attending Lion’s State conventions together, making good friends and memories along the way.
Joyce enjoyed knitting, gardening, canning, crafting, and watching the Hallmark channel. She was an avid Wisconsin sports fan. Joyce loved music. She sang in the Winnebago Lutheran Chorale (now known as Joyful Witness) and loved being the “mom” to the Tenor section for many years. She played the organ, and she never missed a step when dancing with Lyle to the “Moonbeam Waltz”. Joyce was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family and enjoyed family get togethers. She especially loved sharing pictures of all of her grand and great-grandchildren, and could always be counted on to have a collection of pictures with her everywhere she went.
Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dennis (Vicki) Babler of Oshkosh, Susie (Terry) Anderson of New Ulm, MN, and David (Trisha) Babler of Van Dyne; her grandchildren/great-grandchildren, Ryan (Amber) Babler and their daughter Ava of Oshkosh, Travis (Jennifer) Cordes and their children, Jayda, Lauren, Conrad, and Maxwell of Prior Lake MN, Tyler Babler (special friend Kelsey Marchek) of Van Dyne, and Caroline Babler (fiancé Jacob Smith) of Altoona; sisters-in-law, Lois Giese (fiancé John Robley) of Longmont, CO and Beverly Babler of Fond du Lac; nephews, Gary (Karen) Babler of North Fond du Lac, Rick (Mary) Babler of Appleton; and niece, Angela Giese of Longmont, CO.
