Lucia A. Baldauf
Lucia A. Baldauf, age 86, was called to Heaven to sit by the Lord surrounded by her family on Thursday, December 3, 2020. Lucia was a woman full of life. In fact, her favorite saying was “Life is for the Living.” She filled her life with excitement and adventures. Nothing was too adventurous for her. She loved the open sky and the freedom of flying. In fact, some of her plane rides included a navy trainer, breezy open cockpit, biplane, glider flight, helicopter ride, hot air balloon, and parasailing. Along with the love of flying, she also loved the water. She received her certificate for life saving, swam with the dolphins, went for a submarine ride, and went snorkeling. Besides loving flying and the water, she enjoyed going on cruises. She visited Europe, the Orient, and the Bahamas. Playing bridge was her winter enjoyment. She played in a couple of bridge clubs and was active in an investments club. She loved being crafty and artistic including oil painting, knitted twenty purses for Christmas, and silk ribbon embroidery. When as a young mother, sewing clothes for her children and herself made her happy. She even modeled clothing. If you came to her house for dinner, you were served a gourmet meal. Entertaining and having parties were her favorite. Being a devout Catholic you would find her in church every Sunday. She was very active in the church and you might have seen her as a greeter at Holy Family Church. Lucia said her biggest accomplishment was raising five children.
