Lyle A. Babler

Lyle A. Babler, 90, of Van Dyne, died on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at St. Agnes Hospital.

He was born on April 4, 1931, in the Town of Black Wolf, the son of Raymond and Martha Laude Babler.  On July 8, 1952, he married Joyce Knack, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Van Dyne.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War from January 3, 1952- January 8, 1954.

Lyle worked for Oshkosh Truck Corporation for 43 years.  He was a member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, North Fond du Lac, and a former member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Van Dyne, where he served on church council.  He was a charter member of the Van Dyne Lions Club.  Lyle enjoyed hunting, fishing, going sturgeon spearing, golf, was an avid Wisconsin sports fan and enjoyed working with industrial equipment with his grandsons. He loved to bowl and was inducted into the Fond du Lac Bowling Hall of Fame. He was a “Jack of All Trades”.  Lyle was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved spending time with his family, especially playing cribbage with his children.

Lyle will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 69 years, Joyce (Knack) of Edenbrook Nursing Home in Fond du Lac; his children, Dennis (Vicki) Babler of Oshkosh, Susie (Terry) Anderson of New Ulm, MN, and David (Trisha) Babler of Van Dyne; his grandchildren/great-grandchildren, Ryan (Amber) Babler and their daughter, Ava of Oshkosh, Travis Cordes (fiancée Jennifer Christensen) and their children, Jayda, Lauren, Conrad, and Maxwell of Prior Lake, MN, Tyler Babler (special friend Kelsey Marchek) of Fond du Lac, and Caroline Babler (fiancé Jacob Smith) of Altoona; sister, Lois Giese (fiancé John Robley) of Longmont, CO; sister-in-law, Beverly Babler of Fond du Lac; nephews, Gary (Karen) Babler of North Fond du Lac, Rick (Mary) Babler of Appleton; and niece, Angela Giese of Longmont, CO.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Martha (Laude) Babler; father-in-law and mother-in-law, August and Holdina Knack; his brother Glenn (Stub) Babler; and his fur companions, Buttons and Sparkie. 

VISITATION: The family will greet guests from 1:00 – 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 1010 Adams Avenue, North Fond du Lac.

SERVICE: Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, with Rev. Michael Kampman and Rev. Elijah Ehlert officiating. Inurnment will be in Zion Cemetery.
